We all travel. It’s probably the reason we work where we do. Let everyone in on your great experiences, things not to miss and things to avoid.

Hope, Alaska
by: Effie
02.8.13
For those who remember the TV show Northern Exposure, you need to see Hope, Alaska. Cicely is almost all there. A fancy house for Maurice, a bar and restaurant that could be the 'Brick" and there was a guy like Ed walking across the dirt street. Looks like Ruth-Ann's store was there but was closed. We found it about 45 minutes out of Anchorage. It's on the map. The road to Hope is great for Read More

The Scot...
by: Pipup
08.6.12
A Scot returned home to Glasgow after a trip down south to London. He complained to his friend the Londoners were so rude. "They kept banging on the door, knocking on the ceiling, hammering on the floor, at three o'clock in the morning."
"Aye, and what did you do?" asked his friend.
"Och, I kept right on playing me bagpipes." Read More

Traveling Tip
by: Wanderer
08.6.12
Here's a little tip from me to you as an experienced traveler. Wake-up calls are the worst way to wake up. The phone rings, it's loud and you can't turn it down.
I leave the number of the room next to me.
It just rings very quietly and you hear a guy yell,
"Why are you calling me?"
Then you get up and take a shower. It's great. Read More

Kaihalulu Beach, Maui, Hawaii
by: OutbackExplorer
04.13.11
An often missed spot on Maui, Hawaii is Kaihalulu Beach. It is located off the Hana Highway just south of Hana Bay. The deep red sand was created by the volcano at the cove. The secluded beach is surrounded by red and black lava. When you go there wear good griping shoes. The path can be slippery because of the needles from the Ironwood trees and the cinder. The beach is protected by a reef Read More

Malta
by: Gratan
01.23.11
I was in Malta for five nights. I recommend one gets a guide and a driver as the towns are close together, making traffic a nightmare. Buses are a fun cheap way to see the island. Would have loved a longer stay as there is so much to see - historical sites, beautiful beaches, towns with interesting churches and museums. Gozo, takes a day to visit, should be a must. Take the ferry over. Read More

Windmills and Wooden Shoes
by: Jacquie V
01.4.10
Taking your Mother to the Netherlands where her Parents were born, priceless. We landed in Amsterdam, took a train to our Hilton Hotel, Rented a Chevy car, drove to the country side on a four lane highway, and stopped in the towns that were until now just names in the family Bible.
We did see some windmills, but there weren’t any wooden shoes, long dresses or cute white hats. I think m Read More

Santa Fe, NM Shopping
by: Paul K
11.15.09
While in Santa Fe we shopped the Old Town Square. There are a lot of stores but after talking to a waiter at a Sports Bar and Restaurant, he said the place to buy things is at Tin-Nee-Ann's. Was he ever right. The prices are a lot less and they carry most of what was in the souvenir stores on the square. There are blankets, rugs, Indian dolls, turquoise jewelry and much much more. The store i Read More

Sedona and Flagstaff, AZ Jewelry
by: Hugh D
08.9.09
While driving between Sedona and Flagstaff, Arizona on Hwy 89A, we stopped for a break at a roadside park. I can't remember the name of the park, but it is on the eastside of the road just after going up an extensive grade.
In the park was a native craft sale. The deals were great. The prices were half of what they are in the shops. I bought my daughter silver turquoise earrings for under $ Read More
